What is double opt-in (and why it protects you)
Double opt-in explained in plain English, why TinyCourier uses it for signup forms, and how it keeps your list clean and your emails in the inbox.
Double opt-in is a simple two-step way people join your email list:
- They enter their email on your signup form.
- They get a quick “Please confirm” email and click a button to confirm.
Only after that second click do they actually join your list. That’s the “double” part: they say yes twice.
Why bother with the extra step?
It feels like more friction, but it’s one of the best things you can do for your emails:
- It proves the address is real. No typos, no fake addresses.
- It proves they actually want your emails. That means more opens and fewer spam complaints.
- It protects your reputation. Clean lists land in the inbox. Messy ones land in spam, or get your account suspended.
- It helps with the law. In many places (like the EU’s GDPR), confirmed consent keeps you on the right side of the rules.
Put simply: a smaller list of people who truly want you beats a big list that ignores you.
What your subscribers see
When someone signs up through a TinyCourier form, they get a short confirmation email. You can brand this email with your logo, colors, and wording so it feels like you.
👉 To customize it, go to Settings → Branding → Double opt-in email.
Do I have to use it?
Double opt-in is built into TinyCourier’s signup forms because it’s the safest way to grow. When someone confirms, they’re added as a healthy, engaged subscriber, exactly the kind that keeps your emails performing well.
Note: People you import from a spreadsheet aren’t asked to confirm again, because you’ve already collected them. Double opt-in is for new signups through your forms.
